Starting out

My name is Alex Whalley and I’ve had it with all this internet marketing B.S.!
I have spent at least 12 months scouring the internet marketing / home based business world trying to make sense of the chaos, confusion, deception, and ALL OUT LIES that are shoved down my ‘opt in’ throat 24/7! And quite frankly I’ve had just about ENOUGH! I have searched and searched for a real answer to A LOT of questions and all I get is conflicting responses and empty promises, opt in forms and ‘BUY NOW’ one time offers.
With this in mind I started to build this site and thus coined the phrase:
‘Making cents from the chaos‘
I created this site to record an account of my attempt to make money online. To finally understand all the various facets of affiliate marketing and how I can best utilise each, coupled with my strengths – to build an online business and eventually escape the daily grind of the nine to five. I needed a place where I could file and categorise everything I had written and read on the subject of building lists; driving traffic; Search Engine Optimization; Adwords, PPC; WordPress – the list goes on! The amount of information out there is mind-boggling – it’s CHAOTIC almost, so I am setting about to change this.
As I strive to understand the processes behind the hundreds of ‘systems’ within affiliate marketing I will find out what works and what doesn’t – if I post an article or ten, Ill log this too. And as I start to make money, this blog will provide me with a window into what is working and what is not and ultimately help us both to escape the rat race once and for all.
By doing this I make myself accountable (which is something I need sometimes trust me!) and I offer complete accountability through the whole process, as well as offering complete transparency throughout the site.
So stay tuned – for over the course of 2010 I will be slowly peeling back the layers to reveal the simplicity behind the ‘secret’ processes that the gurus try to sell you – and reveal EXACTLY how to build an online business that WILL last you for years to come…

I come from Chris Farrell forum, where you asked for comments.
Basically if you had not asked – I would not have felt obliged to leave any comment or press ‘start’ as it is unclear what we are starting! I feel you message is not punchy – or simple – enough. I am not fired up by it to do anything. I can see that you are well-talented to create such great pages – but I personally suggest that if you maybe kept is simpler and punched home one message, you would get better feedback.
I dunno – maybe for example “I am a guy who got fed up with many affiliate marketing programs and make money online programs. I was about to give up until I found ……….. I have now checked out …………… and am truly excited about it. I will be totally checking this out in 2010, click START below if you want to simplify your life and make money online for real.” I don’t know Alex – but I am just trying to put across some kind of punchier message here, and some reason for the reader to stay with you.
Also, what are you offering? Are you not gonna offer me something free for the trouble of finding you here and building up a relationship?…
These are my comments. And it is 2.30am here and I have been on this for hours, so it might not be the best time for commenting, but then when is a good time, eh?
Oh one other thing…. “intensive purposes” on blog, should read “intents and purposes”…

Turns out you are a newbie not making a dime and starting another “watch me and learn with me make money online blog”

Thanks Seth for your awesome feedback! Your attitude will take you far mate and I am sure you are a really happy person in your life, it shines through in your words.
The fact that you have taken the time to read through my posts before formulating an opinion is really inspiring too. I am actually making money but that’s not really the point, at least not to those who really want to make a living online.
PS: Thanks for a great idea for a tagline. People genuinely would be interested in watching and learning with me.
Thank god you’re not one of them.

Keep working hard at it Alex. Success is something that you will build over time. This blog will be a great place to point to once you have achieved what you want. Then you will be able to show people exactly where you started before you reached your success. Good job so far! Your blog has lots of good content already.

Maybe link it to a squeeze page for instance.

Any affiliate marketer will tell you that high page rank backlinks are the way to go and so you have to find out as many techniques to use it as you can. But you have to do it the right way.
