There are literally hundreds of thousands of ebooks and blogs and websites on the subject of basic Search Engine Optimization. Each of these reference points provides many valid points and at the same time confuses the issue by delving into details that an affiliate marketer running an online business does not need to worry about.
I was reading through the pages and pages of text and watching video after video on everything from effective Keyword research to the relevance (or not) of META tags, to utilising Keywords for an adwords campaign or the power of back links – making sure Keyword content is relevant – but not too short tailed or a newbie will never survive… what the? and then I discovered something! … or should I say someone. They say in life ‘it’s not what you know – it’s who you know’ and how true is that!
My good friend and sometimes marketer – sometimes blogger, Alban ‘the french guy’ Guillemot runs his own SEO company! I did not know this – and by the time wednesday night (10th Feb) had rolled around to ‘tap in’ Thursday morning – Alban probably wished I still didn’t know this(:-)) Boy did I pick his brain. The result of this fruitful night that started at my car and ended up with notes and a laptop taking over the pool table at the local pub will be summarised in my next post, but needless to say I have managed to break the SEO code! Ok not really, but I have managed to break it down into two sections – thus making it so much easier to grasp – and gives the newbie marketer a fighting chance at not drowning in the chaos.
So check out my next few blogs on Search Engine Optimization where I summarise the simplicity of it (OK there is not much that is simple about it) and I will give you, the newbie affiliate just starting an online business, a fighting chance at successfully optimizing your site – and more importantly allow you to focus on more important things – like building your list! But more on that another day.

Hi Alex,
SEO is such a pain! I guess that’s why Spamin’ Sammy seeking a fast buck promotes “Fast Traffic Systems” or some such bull. I have come to learn that SEO is a process that takes thought and planning and can’t really be found in a promotion like “Traffic In A Box” Please …………..
