So you think you can Dance? Or are you just gunning for The Biggest Loser?
Maybe they should have called the show ‘Now you know you can’t dance’ or ‘Now you know you dance like an idiot’. Anyway, back to some sort of point…I used to watch a lot of TV but since finding this new love for my online business my list of favourite TV shows has slowly dwindled to include ‘Dance’ and Heroes, mind you I never actually get around to watching the latter, even with Foxtel recording it for me, but I digress.
My wife watches a lot of TV, well she would if she was not spending half the night with crying babies and spilt milk (-not that I’m crying about it or anything,) but her favourite type of show is reality TV and her no. 1 show in this genre is ‘The Biggest Loser’
Both shows were on television last night and it got me thinking about internet marketing and the similarities between the shows basic premise and the ideology behind my own online venture. (this in itself is a sad indictment of my exciting life)
Both of these shows have something in common with how I need to approach my marketing and are a good real life example of the importance of providing value to people. Granted they were conceived with the idea to make as much money as possible for the producers and for the network, but in the end it is the positive impact they are having on the contestants lives that make the show so watchable and in turn profitable.
There is not much more I can add here, I just wanted to make the point that in the world of marketing, whether it be an online affiliate program, an MLM syndication or even reality Television, you need to give before you can receive, and you need to provide people with genuine value, whether that be in the form of entertainment or education- before you can expect to reap the rewards of your efforts.
Remember the more value you give – the more you will ultimately get.
I still don’t know whether you can dance or not, but I can safely assume that you know enough to not be the Biggest Loser.

Hello Alex,
you really are a good writer, and an assiduous one for that matter, too! Tell you what, I’ll subscribe to your RSS feed as soon as I get around to it. So, how’s your list doing? Would you mind email me your CFM name so I can PM you? I’d like to ask you about the way you worked in this background image around your blog, very nice!
Cheers, John

“Remember the more value you give – the more you will ultimately get.”
I think you’re right.
And I think I just had a little breakthrough – just now – concerning social proof.

Ok now you have me curious. Funny thing is one of my current drafts is looking at social proof from the viewpoint of how it’s “cool” to digg certain sites etc etc yadda yadda … and now I think I shall wait and see what insight you spontaneously came up with through the wisdom of my pages (and yes, I’ll just keep on telling myself that)
“Remember the more value you give – the more you will ultimately get.”
Amen to that!
It’s a theory you can apply all over in life!

i know you can dance
Great point. When you’re wasting your audience’s time you’re being disrespectful.
I’ve always believed in giving everything you got, you know that you’ll get at least that much back, but most times…more.
