The Top 100 Article Directories for 2011

by Alex on July 19, 2011

Quality Content is one of the key ingredients to good SEO, and thanks to the Panda update it is now more important than ever. So in the spirit of Content Distribution and my new Article Marketing Plan I bring you a page you really ought to bookmark ;)

Producing good content is one thing, but distributing it is where the battle for rank and traffic is ultimately won and lost. This should help then ;)

The Top 100 Article Directories by PageRank and Alexa Rank

OrderArticle Directories Alexa Rank PR

There you have it.

Over the course of the next month I will be posting my new Article Marketing strategy, showing you not only how best to write the article for maximum click throughs, but also how and where I plan on distributing this content, a process I intend on automating as much of as possible. (I want all that PR juice above but there is NO WAY I am manually submitting my articles to them all!?!)

Stay tuned.

Richard Scott July 19, 2011 at 1:52 AM

Looks like obtaining high quality links is more important than ever. Especially since Google just adjusted their latest (generous) page ranks… Brought down a lot of rank across some sites I peruse.

The funny thing is, I have never submitted an article anywhere, never done a guest post, never attempted to get back links or traffic of any kind… I have only concentrated on writing good detailed content in my niche and letting Google do everything else.

Sometimes I kick myself for taking this route, but it does seem to work. My Jewelry Secrets site after 4 years gets 84,000 visits a month via 46,167 keywords and now has 175,025 links pointing to it. I let it happen naturally, but it does make me wonder what more it could be… :)

Is it worth the time and hassle, or is content really the key?

andy July 25, 2011 at 2:57 AM

I never submitted my articles to article directory sites too. I don’t realize that it’s worth before. Maybe i will try to do it right now, because i think it can drive visitors to my blog and it can help my article to index by search engines.

Andreas@Online Advertising July 19, 2011 at 2:42 AM

Interesting that ezinearticles the mother of all directories is only a PR 6 now. If they would have reviewed more strictly and introduced moderated comments then they probably would get more google love.

Wait what July 19, 2011 at 4:20 AM is a pr1 site… you have it as a 7? is 4 not 6, i cbf to check anymore but, this seems very wrong :) .

Alex July 19, 2011 at 9:34 AM

what? Wait. :)

THat’s the last time I pay someone on Odesk $5.70 to compile it for me LOL

Love the name mate – thanks for keeping me honest :)

Tom July 19, 2011 at 5:14 AM

Wow – epic! Great work Alex, this page has indeed earned a bookmark ;-)

TrafficColeman July 19, 2011 at 7:06 AM

Hey Alex,

Thanks for the list buddy. I’ve got 10 articles that I’ve been sitting on to promote my PLR site but haven’t got around to uploading them yet and EzineArticles is taking their merry time approving the previous ones I’ve created already. So, I’m going through the other ones :P

Stephen@How To July 19, 2011 at 4:16 PM

Great list, Alex. I’ve recently been looking for an up to date list of good quality article websites and this fits the bill perfectly!

Andrew July 19, 2011 at 4:58 PM

Hi Alex,

Cheers for putting this list together. Awesome!!

All the best

Argie Monroy July 19, 2011 at 10:05 PM

Alex, what are the approval rates of these article directories? Basically, how many days do these get to approved your submissions?

Matt July 20, 2011 at 8:12 AM

Yes, what would make this post truly epic is if you were to include some commentary on the approval rates for each directory and also how many back links each one allows. That would take this list from merely informational to outright useful!

Martha Gruber July 20, 2011 at 12:27 AM

Errrmmmm, you know that some of these websites don’t work at all, others have significantly lower PR and so on…. Have you actually checked what your odesk guy compiled before signing this off and posting?
Bad practice dude, bad practice….

Chris July 20, 2011 at 6:28 AM

Alex, great list. My personal favourite is articlesbase who have fast article approval times and their backlinks always appear on my yahoo backlink checker almost next day. I’ll check out those others though, see if I can find anymore as good.

James July 22, 2011 at 7:53 AM

I agree with Chris Perkins. Articlesbase is by far my favorite. It’s a nice site to work with, the articles get indexed incredibly fast and have a good PR and it’s just plain fast to login to since it has Facebook login. Love it. Plus not as many hassles as the likes of Ezinearticles.

Rick Byrd July 20, 2011 at 9:48 AM

I will definitely put these directories to good use. I do find it amazing that has dropped to a PR6. These will provide some valuable backlinks.

Tale care!

thnks for the directories, i will start bookmarking immidiately

Riya @ Couponseasy July 22, 2011 at 3:51 AM

Hi Alex,

Nice collection of best article directories, I want to ask one thing can I submit same article in more than 1 article directory? I mean is it beneficial?? please suggest me. Thanks a lot!!

John August 23, 2011 at 10:38 AM

I wouldn’t. First, some of the directories may have rules against it which would possible get your article disapproved if they discovered the content is not unique.

More importantly however, you would lose a lot of benefit. Content and uniqueness of that content counts in SEO. The whole point of article marketing is that you can get quality links, far better than that of blog comments, link directories etc. This is because the links are from related pages, and ideally unique content pages. Links from pages with unique content will be far more beneficial. Google will be smart enough to realize that 100 backlinks from the same article is probably the owner of the site promoting it. Backlinks from 100 unique articles will convince Google that your site is of real value.

You can spin articles (google it, or someone else can explain the specifics of this if they would like) to create many from one good article. However this original article will take a while to write. Use spin syntax, not an auto spinner that just moves words around, you want all the articles to make sense so they get accepted into the directories.

Stanley Malone July 22, 2011 at 12:32 PM

Thanks for this list. I’ve been doing a handful of article submissions for my SEO campaigns and have looked high and low for quality article directories post-Panda. This is a good addition to my list.

Thanks again!

For sure mate!

David Tong August 5, 2011 at 12:35 PM

Can’t wait for your automation strategy… I’m still doing things manually so I end up submitting to EZines and Articlebase only. This list is so useful that I’m only targeting 3-4 sites now but still, if there’s an automated process to this, I’d be stoked to learn about it. Thanks Alex!

Richard August 9, 2011 at 10:49 PM

I agree articlebase is one of my favourite article directories. It used to be ezine but I am finding now they are taking a great longer to submit my articles and more often than not even submitting them! Thanks for posting this useful list.

Avnish Gautam August 14, 2011 at 2:50 AM

You can add this article site also. Check the alexa rank of this site. And add this article site in your list.

Satrap August 31, 2011 at 3:21 PM

Wow, that is one big list. Thanks for taking time to compile it Alex.
I actually discovered very recently and I have been loving it. I am kind of surprised why its not as famous and known as other like ezine are, specially considering its high PR

Charmaine September 12, 2011 at 5:33 AM

WOW! I am relatively new to internet marketing and have created three niche sites so far. I have seen it said that to push my sites in the rankings I should make use of article marketing to do so.
Your list here comes at the right time and I am certainly going to make use of it to submit some articles to get some back links created, and some traffic…I hope!

Thanks for sharing this!

Alex September 12, 2011 at 1:03 PM

Hey Charmaine,

Glad you see the true value of quality content distribution and I too hope you get the traffic and results you deserve :)
Thanks for taking the time to comment

Rich September 20, 2011 at 5:15 AM

Thank you for the list of article directories here. I believe in article submission, though the process may take time as the article you have submitted have to be approved. However, the quality of link from these pages is always high, and hence, encouraging. Thank you for the list, God bless.
